Bat Bunker’s First Bat Colony

Well … the Bat Bunker has it’s first documented occupancy !  We have a  Bat colony as of August 2013 . After 2 years from the initial idea of the Bat bunker , we have Bats !  The fact that this is the first season we had the Bat Bunker Bat Houses installed is actually quite a success considering it can sometimes take years for Bats to find and occupy a Bat House.

I believe the reason we are so fortunate is because we have a really good product , the Bat Bunker is unique among other Bat Houses on the market , and of course location is important as well,  and this particular Bat Bunker is located on a lake front property where there are plenty of bats.

The picture to the left  is the installation that we are talking about and the one in the video below where you will see the Bats exiting for their nightly feeding expedition.

An exit count is a tradition among Bat House enthusiasts and researchers as it documents the colonies size and growth as the season goes on. At this particular installation we still have plenty of warm weather and time , and we are hoping this will turn into a maternity colony and we will get to see some young pups coming out the bottom soon !

As part of the Bat Conservation International Research project we are doing our small part in helping the Bats find suitable structures for raising their young . Bats have always been a sometimes misunderstood character in the web of life on our planet and Bat Houses help to get people involved and learning about this incredibly important species.

So stay tuned , I will post later in the season as this colony progresses and share the story as it unfolds !

Bat Bunker Production is Ramping Up !

We are finally going into full production mode on the Bat Bunker Bat Houses , its been a long journey and we still have yet to go, but we are making headway.

The launch of the Bat Bunker Residential model represents our introduction into Bat House Building. It also shows our passion for supporting the conservation of Bats , one of the most important species on our planet.

The Bat Bunker is one of the largest Bat Houses out there , but we do plan on even a larger model down the road.

This of course will be our Bat Bunker rancher model, for larger properties.

Now that we have some orders coming in , and have got things rolling, I am planning on setting up some Bat Bunkers on our property here in Oregon , I have no doubt the Bats will love them.

Bat Bunker Presentation

We held a Bat House Education meeting in our local community to help educate people on the importance of Bats in our eco systems , and how to deal with them when they set up house in our homes , barns and outbuildings.

One of the main reasons for development of the Bat Bunker Bat house was to be able to provide Bats that have been excluded from these dwellings an alternative place to roost and raise their young each year.

With that in mind we wanted to design a Bat House that would be capable of meeting all of our requirements .

.1 Large size: able to accommodate hundreds of bats and maternity colonies.

2. Durable: able to withstand weather and other environmental factors like sun ,wind, rain and freezing temperatures , and still last for decades.

3. Heat Retention: because of its large size and seamless Roto Molded outer shell , more solar radiation can be stored throughout the day providing a more stable temperature range at night .

4. Easy Maintenance : The Bat Bunker’s Roto Molded Exterior requires no painting, no caulking, and will last for decades providing a cozy draft free environment.

5. Attractive Appearance: The Bat bunker was designed to be attractive, something a home owner or land owner would be proud to have mounted on their property, and because it’s made of durable polyethylene , it will stay looking good for many years.

Bat House Update

We just finished running the Bat Banker Bat house with the new mold changes.  We took the time and did a shot peen on the mold and this gave the part a nice textured finish that really adds to the over all quality and look of the product.

The Outer shell of the Bat Bunker Bat House will come in three colors for various geographic locations . Out of the three the Black will likely be the most popular , and then the Charcoal or dark grey will be the second most popular.

Between those two colors that will take care of most of the upper half of  North America. The Black Bat Bunker will absorb the greatest amount of solar radiation, making it nice and warm all night long for the Bat Colony.

We are currently in the process of getting the Bat Bunker Bat house Certified through Bat Conservation International and look forward to proudly displaying their certification on our products.

Having Bat Con certify our Bat House will show that we took the time and effort to follow the guidelines in our design and construction so that the Bat Bunker will be a welcome home for this amazing and vital species.

We will be releasing pricing here shortly for individuals and looking for dealers as well, so stayed posted for the official release . If you have any questions please call us at 1-800-289-7659.
